Brik Mag March 2013

Brik Mag March 2013. This month we investigate some architectural beauties, the property market and some interesting home improvement gadgets. Simon Sinek has become a bit of metaphor for a new movement, with its origins tracing back to the excesses of the pre-crunch era and the success of companies that not only survived the subsequent toxic fall-out, but flourished too. Business, it seems, is no longer about business in the traditional sense of the word, measured on how much money can be made, how fast your car is or chasing profits. There's a new kid on the block that values the amount of positive advancement what you're doing contributes, to yourself and society, over your bank balance. Sinek's vision of a new world where everyone enjoys ‘what they do', and are inspired to create new possibilites and collaborate with each other, is both infectious and, perhaps ironically, results in more ‘successful' companies which ultimately creates a win win situation for everyone. Find out more by watching his talks on YouTube or TED. This one in particular is brilliantly re-calibrating: “Simon Sinek: If You Don't Understand People, You Don't Understand Business.”
