TACTILE HOUSE
10 June, 2021A varied playground of textures and materials for interactive family living defines the ground floor spaces. Painted steel beams, exposed brick, plywood and rope screens create individual areas for playing, relaxing and eating whilst keeping a feeling of coupled, organic space. These areas effortlessly flow through steel-framed doors and windows to the raised terrace and planting beds before falling towards the garden. The upper floors are reconfigured to open up bedrooms and bathrooms with a focus on shaping modern and clear interiors. Unique features, such as the reading nook in the upstairs loft, provide spaces to relax with natural light and joinery for useful storage. Thomas & Spiers worked closely with the client on this project to create a personal, unconventional and warm-hearted home designed to be shared, loved and lived in.
